Silverstone Village
The village of Silverstone is medium sized and located in the county of Northamptonshire, England. With a population of about 2000 it’s a busy village with a few local amenities such as a Post Office and public house.
Silverstone isn’t far from Milton Keynes, Northampton and Banbury making it an ideal village if commuting to the larger towns in the area. Towcester is the closest of the surrounding towns and a lot of people who live in the village work in the nearby town.
The village is most well known for its Grand Prix circuit which is located about half a mile south of the village and hosts the Formula 1 British Grand Prix each year as well as other large events. During the race weekend over 100,000 people visit the village and use the services in the nearby towns. Many people who live in the village work at the circuit and help run events in the area. Silverstone has a large tourism trade at certain times of the year thanks to the large number of visitors to the circuit.
Towns around Silverstone such as Towcester get a large number of visitors when the track is holding a large event. Hotels and restaurants in the area get fully booked weeks in advance and therefore it helps boost local tourism.
