Internet Access
Nowadays everyone expects to be able to connect to the Internet wherever they are and thanks to Internet access in hotels you can now do this. Most hotels near Silverstone have Internet access available to their guests however it’s not always free. You will need to check on their website or when you check-in as to whether the Internet is free to use.
Most often there is Wi-Fi available in the lounges and reception but in the rooms you will probably have to pay by the hour to use it. Some hotels near Silverstone have free access in the rooms but they are few and far between.
There are two different ways to connect to the Internet, the first is cabled by using a fixed Ethernet cable which is on the desk in the hotel room or by Wi-Fi which is wireless access.
Cabled Internet
Using a cat-5 network cable that plugs into the Ethernet port on your laptop you can connect to the Internet. The cable is usually on the desk in the hotel and requires login details which are available from reception. This type of Internet is often free but there are some exceptions and you may need to pay by the hour to use it. Setup is very straight forward and requires little configuration, there is usually a card in the room with instructions on how to configure it.
Wi-Fi Internet
The most popular way of connecting to the Internet is wireless and hotels in the area have adopted this new technology and offer it free in most hotel lounges. You can usually access the Wi-Fi network from your room although it may require a password (available from reception). Connection is easy and straight forward thanks to modern laptops being able to scan for networks with just a few clicks.
