Question: I have tickets for the British Grand Prix in July but have not booked a hotel yet. I’ve carried out a search of your site but can’t find any within a 10 mile radius, can you help please?
Answer: Unfortunately all hotels close to Silverstone are fully booked that weekend, if you want to stay in a hotel you will need to look further away. We recently helped a visitor find a hotel that was about 15 miles away in Milton Keynes. There are a number available still however you must be prepared to travel.
Question: Like a lot of motor racing fans I love a game of golf! Can you recommend some hotels with golf courses where I can enjoy a long weekend?
Answer: You’re actually spoiled for choice! We recommend two in particular, they are both 4 star hotels very close to the Silverstone circuit. The first recommendation is the Hellidon Lakes Golf and Spa Hotel which is fantastic place to stay with high quality leisure facilities. The other recommendation is Whittlebury Hall Hotel and Spa that is less than a mile from the circuit.
Question: I want to go to some events later in the year but haven’t booked any accommodation yet. How late can I leave it before I need to book?
Answer: This is a question we get all the time and the simple answer is to always book as soon as possible. Most of the events and races at Silverstone will fill all the hotels in the area so you need to ensure you book well in advance to secure your room. If you turn up at a hotel the night before a race and haven’t got a booking you may be turned away!
Question: I’m attending a driving course at Silverstone in the middle of the week, what is hotel availability like?
Answer: To be completely honest, in the middle of the week you can probably take your pick! Most of the hotels have discounted rooms and full availability during the week because large events only tend to be held at weekends. If you know when you’re visiting please do book in advance because not only will it guarantee you a room but it will also save you a fair bit of money.
Question: Two weeks ago I checked the prices for a couple of hotels in the area for the Superbikes weekend. I checked again last night and the price has gone up, why is this?
Answer: This often happens when there are very rooms available. Hotels near Silverstone know they will fill them regardless of the price so they will often increase the cost. For large events such as the Superbikes you need to book in advance to take advantage of the great deals that are sometimes on offer.
Question: I went to the British Grand Prix nearly 20 years ago and remember the muddy fields and queuing for hours to get into the circuit. Is it still like this?
Answer: A lot has changed in recent years thanks to the BRDC. The car parks are now sorted with a lot more hand standing, and the roads around the perimeter of the circuit are a lot better. Because of the bypass being built, congestion on race day is now at a minimum so you won’t be sat in your car for hours. Silverstone is connected to some great roads nowadays which has great links to the M40 and M1 motorways. If you are concerned about traffic levels we would recommend staying at a hotel or bed and breakfast in a nearby town making your commute easy.
We will be making this question and answer session a regular feature on the Hotels Near Silverstone website so please keep checking back on a regular basis. As always, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
